He worked as a plumber, cemetery sexton, construction worker, school janitor, truck driver on road construction, and hardware store employee. At age fourteen he began working full-time doing farm work for a neighbor. Lester attended country school through eighth grade. Lester and Alta raised their family on a farm south of Stuart, Iowa. To this union five children were born: John, Paul, Glen, Carl and Cheryl. On FebruLester was married to Alta LaVae Slaybaugh. Lester Clifford Jones was born to Claude Clifton and Jesse Ellen (Sellers) Jones on Februin Adair County, Iowa. He knew each student by name and made sure that he would connect with them during lunch time. He loved all of the students and became quick friends with them. Corey said many times that this was the most rewarding job that he had ever had. He only worked for 4 months, but the impact on his life was profound. He started his duties at the new elementary school, Meadow View, and loved it. In July of 2021, he started working for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District as a Custodian. Recently Corey moved back home to be near his family and friends and turned his live toward God, wanting to do good works in this world. He moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and worked in the insurance industry. After his tour, he finished his Bachelor of Science degree at ISU on May 8, 2010.Ĭorey worked for a number of years in the world of finance in the Des Moines. He was called to active duty and served a tour in Iraq in 2008. He enrolled in the Marine Corp as a reservist in 2006 and returned to ISU after Basic Training in the Spring of 2006. In 2004, Corey transferred to Iowa State University and began his studies in Finance and Marketing. He received many accolades and was named Male Athlete of the Year. ![]() His freshman year he attended Northwest Missouri State University where he played football as a kicker. Ever since Corey was a young kid, he would always round up neighborhood kids and play any sport – everyone had fun.Ĭorey graduated from Dowling High School in 2004. He also excelled in Punt, Pass and Kick as well as Throw, Hit, Run. He also participated in Science Fair.Ĭorey loved sports and participated in club soccer, football, baseball, basketball and track. He was also active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout in 2002. He also took part in a missions trip to Florida and summer camp at Raccoon River Bible Camp in Scranton, Iowa.
